Simethicone is a grey translucent viscous fluid, which contains polydimethyl siloxane and silicone dioxide. It is insoluble in water and alcohol. The simethicone is used in combination with aluminum and magnesium salts being used as antacids in the symptomatic treatment of flatulence, functional gastric bloating & postoperative gas pains. It is used as an antiflatulent to relieve symptoms commonly referred to as gas, including upper GL bloating, pressure fullness or stuffed feeling. Silicone defoamer is milky white liquid, which contains polydimethyl siloxane and emulsifying agent (non-ionic). It is soluble in water. These defoamers are used in every industry. These defoamers are diluted with water in the proportion of 1 to 10 depending on the generation of foams. They can be readily added in the process of production in the paint, rubber chemical & pharmaceuticals industries. They are directly used in the effluent treatment plants, where the effluents of various chemical reactions are dumped for the purification of water from the effluent by adding up to 4% of diluted defoamer through the inlet valves, to enable the defoamer to readily mix with the effluents which agitated on continuous process. Silicone textile treatment compounds & textile treatment specialty compounds are developed for use as water repellants, lubricants, softeners & improvers for natural & synthetic fibers and fabrics. These compounds have excellent water repellant nature without impairing the breathing properties of the fabric. These softening agents produce specific hand effects, along with substantial improvements in the mechanical properties of the fabric.
